Operation Wilson Investigation Report published
The Commission has today published the investigation report of an Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity (ACLEI) corruption investigation known as Operation Wilson, finding that a former Australian Border Force (ABF) officer had engaged in corrupt conduct, namely ‘abuse of office’, in connection with the importation of illicit tobacco.
Operation Wilson was a joint investigation by ACLEI with the Department of Home Affairs, the Australian Federal Police and Victoria Police, which transitioned to the National Anti-Corruption Commission on 1 July 2023. Under the transitional arrangements, the National Anti-Corruption Commissioner finalised the investigation report.
As a result of the investigation, the ABF officer was charged, convicted and fined $4000.
